About Adult Services

Alaska Behavioral Health provides comprehensive therapy services for adults experiencing mild, moderate, and severe mental illness. Our services include:

  • Crisis intervention
  • Psychiatric assessment and treatment
  • Case management in conjunction with therapeutic services
  • Individual and group therapy (including cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy)
  • Psycho-social rehabilitation services
  • Peer support
  • Vocational services

While no referral is necessary, Alaska Behavioral Health frequently serves clients referred from primary care providers, hospitals, community health centers, and the court system.

Alaska Behavioral Health has an assessment process for adults designed to assure that each adult receives the services necessary to meet their individual behavioral health care needs.

Meet Our Team

Adult Outpatient Clinic

Our adult outpatient clinics consist of clinicians, clinical associates, and peer support specialists working together to provide comprehensive behavioral healthcare services to adults who experience mental health challenges or life stressors. Medication management is available through our medical services team. All services are designed to assist individuals in their goals of recovery.

Partial Hospitalization Program for Adults

Our Partial Hospitalization Program for Adults (ages 18 and up) is a short-term intensive therapy program for adults experiencing severe and/or persistent depressionbipolar and other mood disorders. The program includes medication management, intensive therapy and skill-building to help clients regain stabilityimprove quality of life, and avoid the need for higher levels of care or step-down from higher levels of care.

Intensive Community Services

The Fairbanks and Anchorage Intensive Case Management (ICM) teams work with adults who have acute mental health needs and require ongoing support. The ICM teams provide community-based evaluation, outreach, support services, advocacy, community living and problem-solving skills, and assists individuals with achieving self-sufficiency. Members of the team include clinicians, clinical associates, vocational specialists, substance abuse specialists, peer support specialists, and psychiatric nurse practitioners.

Peer Lounge in Anchorage

Our Peer Lounge in Anchorage is a safe space for adult clients or those interested in becoming clients to engage and build community. The Peer Lounge is located 1231 Gambell Street, on the second floor, and is open Monday – Friday, 8 am to 1 pm for drop-in, and 1 – 3 pm for scheduled client activities. The Lounge offers access to showers, laundry, food and a kitchen, and is staffed by peer support specialists.

Adult Mental Health Residential Program

Alaska Behavioral Health provides mental health residential treatment for adults with acute mental health needs who have not responded to outpatient treatment, have needs that cannot be met in a less-restrictive setting, or would benefit from further treatment following inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.

Adult mental health residential treatment provides medication services and individual and group services with a focus on skill development including communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution; life and social skills to restore functioning; and self-regulation, anger management, and other mood management skills.

Psychiatry & Primary Care

Comprehensive psychiatry and primary care services are offered through our Medical Department.
