Alaska Behavioral Health is excited to host the 12th Annual Alaska Advanced Trauma Training Institute!
Each year, the Alaska Advanced Trauma Training Institute features local Alaskan and national experts who share the latest research and advances in the neurobiology of traumatic stress, trauma-informed systems, and clinical interventions for complex trauma in children and adults. This high-quality professional development opportunity exists to expand the knowledge of and support the development of trauma-informed care for behavioral health and social service providers across Alaska.
This year’s agenda is packed with topics for new program employees, peers, and clinicians as well as seasoned professionals and managers.
- Dr. Ashley Stevens, LCSW, will focus on long-term sustainability for clinicians in the field, discussing clinical supervision and methods of addressing burn-out
- Dr. Roxanne Grobbel, JDS, LCSW, RPT-S will present on infant mental health and the effects of early trauma
- Dr. Andy Young will address how mental health professionals can support for first responders during or following a crisis
- Dana Fogelsong, LCSW will present on becoming an effective peer support specialist, and supervising peer support professionals
- plus Humor in Therapy with Suzette O’Donnell, our favorite PAWS for Purple Hearts therapy dogs, and Ms. Wheelchair Alaska Katy Arvidson!
